The Ranch

HAPPY 2026!!!

Happy New Year!

2 minutes

We hope you had a fabulous holiday with family and friends! We had all the ranch hands home and it was a great time as it always is when we are all together.

We are huge Gonzaga Bulldog fans.

The funny thing about this photo is that we actually have a wood stove on the opposite side of where this photo was taken, but some flames on the TV definitely set the mood.

The ranch hands helped us get the roof on the the cow shelter:

Ok, I didn't get the best photo, but that is metal on top of that shelter and the cows are very happy.

This is Chewy being very happy he has a roof on his shelter.

These silly cows. They are looking at me as if to say ," What's the problem? Don't you stand in the middle of your food too??"

The cows have made friends with the horses.

Mav and Chewy, and yet to be named.

We have fortified the fence and so far the little escape artists have managed to stay on our property.

MacGyver fixing fence. My hero!

We added a couple of new roosters to our flock. We lost Gordon, our old rooster, a couple of months back and wanted to bring in some new testosterone. I have named them Biff:

Biff

and Sherman:

Sherman

Biff is a bully. Hence his name. I thought of the bully from the movie Back to the Future. His name was Biff. ( Yes, I am totally dating myself)

Biff doesn't like Sherman a whole lot and will chase him around.

Biff managed to find himself stuck outside the chicken yard when we first brought him home and I had to rescue him. As I was carrying him back to the ladies he tried to peck me a couple of times.  Let's just say he doesn't do that anymore. Don't "peck" the hand that feeds you!!!!!

Sherman is pretty laid back and just tries to stay out of Biff's way. They both are pretty good roosters, which is good. They know who is the real boss. LOL!

We will be getting more chickens this spring so by next fall they will have several ladies to tend to.

The weather turned cold enough to freeze the duck pond which meant it was time to move the ducks and Goose Goose to their winter quarters up by the chicken coops where we have electricity for their water. We also purchased a new hut for them so we don't have to move their summer home back and forth each winter.

The move went well. They got a very nice ride in the back of the gator to their new digs for the winter.

They are enjoying their new space but I know they long for spring and being able to swim all over their pond.

Duck parade.

That about sums things up on the ranch. Hope things are going well in your little corner.  Just to make you smile here is Taz as I sign off for now.
