I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. MacGyver and I were in Utah with our kids. We had a great time.
While we were away the weather decided to go Arctic and cover the ranch in a layer of white and also decided to freeze everything. Which made for an interesting morning.
I went out to do chores. It was very cold.

One of the cute adorable highland heifers was out of the pen. I tried to get her back in but needed a little help from MacGyver. We got her back in and then I noticed the fence was destroyed. The cute adorable highland Heifer decided to go to the far side of the pen and just jumped right out where she had previously destroyed the fence.

Sooooo, I had to fix the fence before trying to get them back in. Plus, MacGyver had already left for his day job so I was on my own. I fixed the fence red neck style.

Oh! Did I mention that all three of them jumped the fence?????? So all three were running around.
I got a dog and got the gator and tried to push the cows back. In the process of trying to push the cows back I got the gator stuck in an irrigation ditch. Yea, that is how my morning was going.

I was able to get the gator out of the ditch. Put that sucker in 4 wheel drive and backed her right out. But I didn't do that until I had walked clear back to the house and MacGyver told me how to get the gator unstuck. I had to take a 4 wheeler out to the gator to get it unstuck. But then I had two vehicles out in the field.

I literally drove one a few hundred feet, walked back, drove the other one a few hundred feet and so on.

It was LOADS of fun...... on the bright side I have gotten all my steps in for the day.
Folks, this is a true life on the ranch day. It isn't all Heartland and Yellowstone movie hype. It's freezing your butt off, chasing naughty livestock and fixing fence when all you want to do is go inside and sit by the fire!
Did I mention I have a cold? Yes, I brought back a cold from Utah and my nose was running like Niagara Falls this whole time.
I almost permanently screwed my fingers together trying to put up the boards to fix the fence.

I did learn that all I had to do was put the drill in reverse and the screw came out of my glove.
Yes, it has been a Monday here on the Cedar J. The crazy part is I took photos to show all of you!!!
If you need me I will be sitting by the fire with a box of kleenex trying to hold off Niagara Falls from my nose.
Make it a great week! If anyone wants a ranch hand job send them my way!!!!!
