The Ranch

We are still kicking on the Cedar J

Catching UP

2 minutes

The Cedar J is alive and well. Here is a little update on what has been happening.

COWS.

Chewy is growing and doing well
These two are still as cute as ever. Still don't have names because, well, I can't tell them apart!

Doesn't everyone want to see a cow tongue!!

Maisy

Maisy is getting along with the other horses
Maisy getting ready for her first hoof trim.  I had to sedate her and she got very sleepy.
She did great for her first trim!

Cats

Hank is 14 yrs old this year! He and Milo are snuggle buddies.
Taz may look innocent , trust me, she is a force to be reckoned with!

New Sign

My Christmas present was finally done and arrived! Now we just need to put it up at the driveway.

Chicks

We added 25 new chicks to our flock. We now have close to 50 chickens.

Dogs

Terrible photo, but they were being obedient when I asked them to sit!

Horses

These three are always curious about what is going on. Medic, Mav and Moxie.
Jazzy had some stomach issues and wasn't looking great.
We got him some meds, and a good bath, and he was doing way better and continues to be well. He is 31 yrs old this year. Still going strong, retired and living his best life.
Moxie and I have been riding a couple of times. I don't think she is impressed with my selfie skills.
Are we going to ride or just take photos all day?

Apollo

MacGyver and Ranch Hand #4 drove over 2800 miles in 48 hours to pick up my new horse!

Apollo! Our new Tennessee Walker.

He needed a few groceries when we got him. He has enjoyed the hay and grain he is getting. He is 12 yrs old and beautiful! I have been looking for a gaited horse for over 2 yrs. Montana is not a hot bed for gaited horses. Ok, at least not gaited horses in my price range. I found him in Michigan and MacGyver and Ranch Hand #4 drove to Atkinson Illnois to pick him up. The seller was willing to save us 600 miles and met the boys in Atkinson.

All tacked up and ready to ride.

He is 15.2. A little taller than I am used to. MacGyver really likes him and we are looking forward to hopefully doing more riding this year!

The ducks and Goose Goose are doing well. I thought I had photos but apparently I don't. No recent photos of the goats either.  I am slacking! The summer is ahead of us and I will try and do better.

We bought a baler and are looking at  doing hay this year! We have some ranch hands home for the summer and are grateful for the extra hands.

Alas, I had to get out of the bee keeping business. I discovered I have a severe allergy and got a fun ride in the ambulance to the hospital. I am doing much better. I had no idea I was so allergic. I am an epi pen carrier for life now. My family has dubbed May 9th as "NO BEES DAY".

The drugs have kicked in and I am doing much better in this photo. Very grateful for awesome healthcare!

We are excited that Ranch Hand #1 and her hubby are expecting our Ranch Hand Grandbaby very soon! The pastures are turning green, birds are singing, and we are looking forward to summer. It's going to be a great summer on the Cedar J!
